Emergency Remote Teaching with Empathy

During the pandemic, we couldn't stress more on the importance of empathy among lecturers, teachers and educators. Because Regular Online Teaching is NOT the same with Emergency Remote Teaching. Here are Dr. T's recommendations on using empathy when implementing emergency remote teaching (video in Bahasa Melayu) below:

In summary, these are the 9 tips:
  1. Check the students' internet capability.
  2. Get to know students' internet affordability.
  3. Synchronize with colleagues for LIVE sessions and workloads.
  4. Should be a combination of synchronous and asynchronous activities.
  5. Provide regular recorded online LIVE but do not make it compulsory.
  6. Provide online community support involving all students.
  7. Provide regular formative assessment.
  8. Do not over specify over requirement for the assignment.
  9. Provide platform for the students to voice their feedback & reflection.

We are all forever a learner, after all. Let's keep on learning for the benefit of yourselves AND your learners ðŸ˜€. Good luck in your online teaching!
